Turkey Burgers with Caramelized Onions and Red Peppers

Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
  • 1 Lb Ground Turkey -( I used 90% lean)
  • 2Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • ½ - 1 cup diced onions (depends on how oniony you want the burgers)
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic (again depends on how garlicky you want your burgers)
  • ½ cup Rolled Oats (for Celiacs, make sure the oats and Certified Gluten free)
  • 1 Tbsp Chicken broth
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of Coarse Sea Salt
  • Fresh Ground Pepper, generous
  • *I Actually added fresh Parsley sometimes, which is a great addition for taste and color too
Instructions
  1. Add the Olive oil, onions, garlic, red bell peppers, salt and pepper to a large skillet and saute until they are tender.
  2. In large mixing bowl, place the ground turkey, Onion and pepper mixture, oats, egg and chicken broth. Mix well.
  3. Now make your burger patties, I used an icecream scoop to make uniform patties, but you can eyeball it, if that's your style.
  4. Cook on griddle or grill.
  5. Enjoy!
