Be a Dreamer

Dream your Dreams! So you can Create your Dream Life!
Dream your Dreams! So you can Create your Dream Life!

I am a dreamer.

I love to dream and think about beautiful things, events, happenings and all the lovely possibilities of life!

For a long time I kinda disliked this part of myself, because it gave me a deep longing and ache for “something”, a career, traveling, thriving friendships, amazing experiences, happiness . And because I didn’t think I was able to have any of these things,  this need and longing created in me a lot of restlessness and sadness in my life, which lead to a lot of judgment, anger and frustration.

It was so frustrating, having all these wants and desires, but I being so sure I couldn’t and/or shouldn’t have these things in my life. And in some cases, I kinda felt like I shouldn’t even want to have them.

And sometimes these “wants and desires” were not tangible, which are the hardest of all,  because these create the “I’m not enough” feelings.  And these “I’m not enough” feelings start taking on sinister faces of self-comparison, shame, and even self-loathing.  And because we don’t want to feel this way, we start acting and doing the things we think will make us feel better , and before know it we are knee deep in muck…eating disorders, over-eating,  drinking, drugs, hating, materialism, jealousy,  perfecting, performing and achieving.

My “muck” of choice were body loathing, eating disorders, perfecting and performing, with a healthy dose of jealousy for good measure.

In fact, I think this underlying idea of “not enough” is what leads to the idea, that we shouldn’t have beautiful and ambitious dreams and if we have them, we couldn’t make them happen.

But I think dreams were created in our minds to show us the way to our greatest potential!

You can create exactly the life you want and the one you are meant to have.

The second part of the sentence is the key though.  I promise your dreams are all possible, but you truly have to do some soul searching to make sure your “longing” is not related to an unmet need.

Here let me explain further. Maybe one of your dreams is to become a famous singer, which is a beautiful dream. But I ask you, which is more important to you, the famous part or the singing part.  In our society, fame and fortune have become the most significant measure of success and importance. WE think that, we and our actions are not important if they aren’t acknowledged and recognized my others.

And when we hand over the power to determine our worth and importance to others, we are in for a world of disappointment and hurt…because we are seeking from others what they do not have to give.

We are important, significant, amazing, beautiful, worthy, and valuable because we were created as a perfect being. The perfect version of ourselves. You have a part to play, that was mean for no one else but you, and you are robbing the world of brilliance by wanting or trying to be anything other than yourself.

It is only when we measure our perfection up against another person’s perfection that we become imperfect.

And  our Dreams are our guides.

They are our road maps to contentment and happiness.

So start dreaming my friends.  Your dreams  are an expression of  your soul’s desires and can be your reality, if you are willing to manifest them.

And you can manifest them.  You can manifest anything,  when you believe that you can, know that it is your destiny,  trust yourself, listen to your inner voice, follow your own compass.

And let me just take a second to say something here.  You can follow you desires and dreams without it being your whole life or making it into a career.  We have the capacity to have loves and passions for many things, and having a well-rounded approach to pursuing our dreams will create beautiful balance.  For example, I have a friend who is an amazing photographer, she has a gorgeous eye for staging, light and capturing precious moments.  But she is also a nurse and is a talented caregiver.  I have asked her before, if she ever considered making photography her profession, and she very wisely says “No, I am happy with it as a hobby”. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t take photography classes, study techniques and improve her skills.  It simply brings her joy and that is enough.

Joy is Enough.

So like I said, dream away, develop your passions, seek fun and curate happiness! They are all yours for the taking!

Oh and one of my favorite ways to make dreams a reality is to get visual with them!  I love to envision the possibilities for my life, I think it is very powerful!  And Envisioning Dreams is one the things I work with my clients on and one of my favorite tools for creating vision, is making vision boards. Vision boards are super cool, because they are a concrete representation of your dreams, and solidify these dreams in the universe.

Simply put, you start creating energy around your desires, and gets the “cosmic” ball rolling.

One great start to creating a vision board is Pinterest!  I have loved Pinterest for years and the idea that it is a “sort of” vision board never occurred to me until a client of mine mentioned it!  And it is so true! Pinterest is a beautiful streamlined tool that allows us to put pictures to our dreams.  Now, Like I said, it is a start, because I really believe, that to get the true benefit of a vision board you must physically create it, but Pinterest is a good start.  Here, check out  a vision board I created for myself on Pinterest.

So be dreamers my friends, for that is the first step in creating your dreams!
