It’s been awhile since I have made a “Favorite things” post, but I am feeling so grateful of the numerous gifts and nuggets of wisdom in my life right now, so I wanted to share some the wealth and make a simple list of what has inspired, strengthened and thrilled me over the last few months.
Books:
I have read and listened to some AH-MAZ-ING books recently!
Tattoos on my Heart The Power of Boundless Compassion by Gregory Boyle – I read this a few months ago, but it is now one of new favorites! It is full of beautiful stories of love and compassion, that my heart was near to bursting so many times throughout this book. It gave me so much food for thought about the underrepresented, underprivileged, underappreciated people in our society
Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton – OMG, girls! This is a must read for any woman! I got so many nuggets from this!I swear she lifted my feeling and inner wisdom about Warrior Woman and wrote about it in her book, it was so beautiful and well written!
Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach- I love everything by Tara Brach, including her podcast. It was so insightful and beautiful, a definite must read for anyone who struggles with self love and acceptance. I listened to the audio book and had to increase the speed of the recording, I know, not very zen of me, but it does move a bit slow at times!
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – This is one of the most well known personal growth books and I read it while on our summer vacation
A Man Named Ove by Fredrik Backman – I can’t always read personal growth books or I will go crazy! I just happened to stumble a upon this book on Audible and I am so glad I did, because it was so hilarious! People must have thought I was crazy LOLing in the middle of the grocery store as I was listening to this! Maybe I found it so hilariously funny because I have a few Oves in my life! ????
Podcasts and Articles:
I don’t know if you know this about me, but I am a huge consumer of information and wisdom, and here a few of my favorites from the last week or so!
Wisdom Part 1; Meet Your Sister on The Rob Cast
Seasons: The Rob Cast
Forcing or Floating: The Lively Show
Gennon Doyle Melton on the Love Warrior on Destructionist Podcast – Inspired me to Purchase Love Warrior book and was glad I did!
What to Do have you have a Breakthrough by Danielle La Port – We often think that personal growth is always unicorns and pick floaty clouds, but actually it is messy and can be really painful and I thought this was a great and very poetic article talking about that very struggle!
Random Stuff:
My Brown Hat – Oh how I love this floppy perfect in-every-way brown hat! I LOVE hats, and this one is definitely in my hat hall of favorite. I brought 3 hats on my trip and purchased one while I was there and this one remains my favorite sunny weather hat! ! Doesn’t look like the perfect, Southwest Adventure hat! This hat showed my that I can even love a hat with my whole heart…life lessons come in every form! ???? ( Sorry I have no link for this exact hat, I found it in some random store, last December!)
Keen Sandals – Ok, I am the first to admit, these shoes are not the most attractive and stylist shoes…but OMG, are they comfortable! My kids and I wore them constantly on our vacation this summer they were perfect for hiking around and tramping through puddles and rivers!
Rachel’s Plan Bee – WE went to the Pre-Race Expo at the Spa Girl Tri and there was this small little booth with this warm lovely woman standing behind, so I went over and started asking her about her products. She told me a little about her products and the story behind why she started her company and I was instantly in love. So I purchased a few of her products and fell in love twice! These are the two products I have been using most and LOVE them! I feel so moisturized and they smell so musky and wonderful. I love that I am supporting a fellow, lady boss, her business and her dreams! You can order your own Plan Bee products HERE
XO,
Sally
