You know, I love a good smoothie!
Smoothies are a fantastic, simple and quick way to get a bunch of healthy, body revving nutrients all at once in delicious, satisfying beverage . I often have them as part of my breakfast and make them for my kiddos after school for a snack.

When my box of True Food arrived (both original and chocolate), I couldn’t wait to start using it! The directions on the back suggested mixing either with plain water, so I thought I would give it with the original, but with the strong flavor of the Wheatgrass powder, and spirulina, it was a bit to strong for my sensitive pallet, so I will stick with just adding it to my smoothies. I also tried the chocolate flavor mixed with plain water (1scoop/12oz water), it has a pleasant with a sweet chocolatey earthy flavor.
As I said I love smoothies, because they are a great way to get lots of fiber, nutrients and flavor in a quick, delicious and filling drink.
Fruit smoothies are also so versatile, I have a pretty basic recipe, with frozen blueberries and strawberries and fresh baby spinach and then I add whatever fruit or vegetable (except broccoli, cauliflower or brussels sprouts, the sulfuric compounds) I have in my fridge or freezer that sounds good and/or needs to be used. You can also add other types of fresh or frozen fruit and other nutrient-rich foods, like yogurt, nut butter, chia seeds or flax seeds. What do you like to add to your smoothies?
On this day I was making enough smoothie for myself and my kiddos, so I added 1 cup of frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries and a wrinkly apple from the back of my fruit/veg drawer and a dollop of creamy peanut butter (~1ishtbsp).
Then I added a level scoop of True food. Because I am sharing this with my kids, I didn’t want the flavor to be too strong and it does herbal ingredients (great detoxifiers) like Milk Thistle, Ginko, and Sea Buck Powder, which are all considered safe for children ( I checked), but there are no definitive studies, so I always like to be cautious with my little darlings.
I added water, but feel free to add milk (or milk alternative), whichever is your preference. I add enough water to reach the top of the fruit because I don’t like my shake to be too thick…again this is a preference thing, my husband likes his smoothies to be super thick like soft-serve ice cream style.
Then I added about 2 cups of fresh baby spinach. I had to blend the fruit a bit to make room for the spinach.
Finally, added a touch (~1tbsp) of honey, because the strawberries were a tad sour and were taking away from the whole deliciousness of the shake. 🙂
Enjoy!
Wanna try it! I hope you do, because it is awesome and because Brightcore is awesome, they giving us a special link to get 20% off here (affiliate link) for TrueFood Original and Chocolate.
