My name is Sally, I am a dietitian nutritionist living and loving in Austin, Texas. I am bran’ spank’n new to the blogosphere, thank you for welcoming me!
I want to share four of my favorite things with you. Food, Facts, Fitness, and Felicity. (Alliteration, nerdy I know, but that’s how I roll)
Food:
I LOVE Food…especially the cooking and eating part! So, because no one wants to see me eat, I will focus mainly on cooking. Now, just so we are clear, I am not a professionally trained chef or culinary authority but I am master chef to three spunky kids and one full-grown, full-sized eater, and I have learned a few tricks through the years. I will bring you many of my favorite, deliciously nutritious and simple recipes, along with some helpful culinary techniques and pointers.
Facts:
As a nutritionist, I am keenly focused on the impact our diet has on our lives. We are fortunate to live in a time when science is discovering some really fascinating and impactful things about nutrition and our health. Science is so cool! But unfortunately with a lot of new discoveries can come information overload. I want to help clarify some of the food and health news, information and hoopla. It is important to have the facts and knowledge to make educated and beneficial choices for yourself and your family. Knowledge is power…I want you to have the power to influence your body and mind in an incredible new way!
Fitness:
Fitness and physical activity are a huge part of a healthy lifestyle. Fitness has become an integral part of my life and well-being. It just makes me feel good. Although, I am a regular exerciser and a fitness enthusiast, I am really more of a fitness dilettante than an expert. But, I will share what I do know and discover. I feel that loving yourself through physical activity is an integral part of health and happiness!
Felicity:
Felicity is defined as intense happiness. Intense happiness, what a beautiful idea! Ok so, I am no expert of felicity or happiness, but I am an active seeker of it. I struggled for many years with feelings of inadequacy, doubt and poor self-image. One day (well, many days really) I decided I didn’t want this for myself. I knew I was a good, kind and loving person, with lot to offer the world, but I still had that little (but active) negative voice inside my head filling me with self-doubt and stealing my joy. I desired changed. Well, long story short, through a positive cycle of treating myself to healthy food, fitness and positivity (thoughts and actions), I found a new love and appreciation for myself. I found that the more love and happiness I show myself, the more love I can spread around.
They say life is a journey. Well, I want my journey to be one of love, laughs, health, strength, joy and wellbeing. Will you join me?
