You know, I just love a good turkey burger!
Turkey is a subtly flavored meat, which really lends itself to absorbing different flavors. I use turkey often because it is a lighter alternative to beef and actually I prefer the taste of turkey to beef, much to my husband’s chagrin, he always complains I don’t use enough beef in my cooking. 😉
These turkey burgers are super quick and easy, which makes them perfect for a busy night or a night where you don’t really feel like cooking. And they are packed with tons delicious nutrients and flavor because of all the sauteed onions, garlic and red pepper I am adding!
Here we go!
Place your diced onion, minced garlic, red pepper and salt and pepper in a large skillet with some olive oil.
Saute until the vegetables are tender. Then…
Place your ground turkey into a large mixing bowl, add the caramelized onions and red pepper, oatmeal (use certified gluten free Oatmeal if you have Celiac disease) an egg and a splash of chicken broth.
And because like to have uniform-sized burger, I use my ice cream scooper to portion the burgers onto the grittle.
I cooked these on the griddle to save time on a weeknight, but they are great cooked on a grill too.
Once they are non-pink half way, flip them over to cook the other side. (that may have been unnesscearry info, but wanted to add it for any burger making novices out there)
These are done in a jiffy, so they are perfect for quick meal!
I served these with feta cheese on a bed of spinach, but they would be great on the bun of your choosing too. 🙂
Enjoy!
