Today, August 25, 2016, marks the 100th Birthday of our beautiful National Parks! These parcels of land a truly a marvel of nature and a treasure to behold.
During our Summer Road trip this year be had the opportunity to visit many, many national parks in the American Southwest, and it was amazing!
We went to so many, I can’t even remember them all, but here are a few of my favorites!
Carlsbad Caverns – This cavern system is so massive and amazing!
White Sands National Monument – this is really as amazing as the pictures look!
Cibola National Forest – I stopped here to have a picnic on our travels and it was so beautiful to drive through. Bonus: Pie Town is really close! And you have have to stop by The Gathering Place for a piece of pie…ask for Lori, she is the owner and just like her pies, she is so lovely and warm.
Walnut Canyon – Very cool Cliff Dwellings
Petrified Forest – Really neat place…but we didn’t spend very much time there, because the kids were feeling a bit tired and cranky…and just wanted to get to the hotel to swim in the pool! ????
Mesa Verde – I am a history buff and this place was mind blowing (along with Walnut Canyon) and definitely inspired me to learn more about the Native American culture
Grand Canyon – Beautiful, amazing, surreal…so much more can be said! I must see!
Zion National Park – Zion was my favorite place. I felt my soul was connected to the magic of this place…I can’t wait to go back!
San Juan National Forest – We were in Telluride, CO and the forest, waterfalls and mountain vistas in the area are just Amazing.
I am so glad that in 1916, the US government decided to start creating this amazing system to protect and preserve these amazing natural areas, that can be enjoyed for years to come.
I believe that being in, and connecting with, nature is one of the most powerful experiences we can have. It gives us to opportunity to connect more deeply with ourselves and our “something greater”. I have said this before, but many of my most inspired moments have come when I am being active in nature.
Our trip this summer was so enjoyable for me, that I (half) jokingly told my husband that I wanted to quit my coaching job and become a park ranger ????…specially I wanted to be one of the Rangers that rode the Mules up and down at the Grand Canyon! ???? Of course, I couldn’t possibly do that, because I love helping woman (and some men) transform their lives too much…but it is fun to daydream. ☁️
We are already planning our Spring Break trip to Big Bend National Park, this March! Yay!
And if you get a chance, definitely check out the National Parks and Monuments near you and support this amazing institution! And to WOW you into going, here are some pics from our trip!
Enjoy and Cherish your world!
XO,
Sally
