The Post Holiday Blues

The Lemonade – In Case You Missed it December 27, 2024

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Phew, we made it to the other side of the holidays! For some reason, this year felt extra exhausting—like a marathon through a sea of cookies, wrapping paper, and nonstop caroling. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to get back to real life and start thinking about what’s next.

2025, Here We Come!

I’m a big fan of New Year’s resolutions. Not because the clock strikes midnight and poof everything changes (though wouldn’t that be nice?), but because it’s a natural time to reflect. What’s working? What’s not? What can we tweak to make life a little brighter, better, and more fun?

Do you like making New Year resolutions

In the News:

Universities are urging international students to return stateside before Inauguration Day to avoid potential chaos from a rumored travel ban.

Sadly, bird flu has killed 20 majestic big cats at a Washington state sanctuary. Sanctuary officials said cats are particularly vulnerable to the virus. So sad!

President Musk? Elon Musk continues to weld his influence in the US government (even though he is an unelected, billionaire businessman and SM owner).  I don’t know Elon’s opinion of this new unofficial title, but it appears to be ruffling some Trump feathers

Elon’s Adventures in International Meddling

Speaking of Elon, he isn’t just keeping his meddling state-side, he’s apparently dabbling in Germany’s politics, too. Musk endorsed the far-right AfD party with a bold statement: “Only the AfD can save Germany.” If you’re curious about the AfD’s platform HERE and HERE, spoiler alert: it’s… a lot.

Remember when Blake Lively was the worst? Well, maybe not.  Looks like it was all a fabrication—a fake narrative created and perpetuated by a savvy PR team working for Justin Baldoni, to ruin Lively reputation and it worked. Lively has since filed a formal legal complaint against director and co-star Baldoni, and the story was broken by The New York Times. This is really scary.

Mental Health: The holidays aren’t always sunshine and rainbows for everyone. If you’re some sort of way after the holiday, you’re not alone. Supporting your mental health is so important. And if you need professional help, there is no shame in that—seek it out! Here is a great resource for finding someone in your area.

But here are some things you can do to help you return to your happy self. Try meditation or deep breathing exercises to find peace.  Journaling is powerful. It’s like therapy on paper. Lean on a friend, Call a friend for a heartfelt chat. And don’t forget about the power of exercise to help your mood

Money: Post-holiday credit card bill lookin’ a little scary? Gulp. It’s okay—we’ve all been there! Now’s the perfect time to take a deep breath, look at your finances, and make a plan.  Start a plan to pay down your debt and make a budget for next year

Nutrition: The holidays can leave us feeling a little blah, but a few small changes can make a big difference:

  • Add Veggies & Fruits: They’re packed with nutrients and fiber to help your body reset.
  • Cut the Sugar: Holiday treats were fun, but now it’s time to ease up. Freeze extras or share them with neighbors if you need to clear them out.
  • Drink More Water: Aim for 2 liters a day to help your body feel refreshed and energized.

Simple changes = big impact. Let’s get back to feeling amazing!
